No matter how sick or happy you are, smile, look beautiful, and strike the right pose no matter what. More than 112’000 models are registered around the globe. These are those who have been signed up for an agency and regularly travel around the globe to work. If you add in the people who accept local castings for photo shoots and iconography, the number could easily reach the million. This profession isn’t for everyone. Fashion models are not uncommon. Only a few of these models will be able to make millions of dollars and become well-known.

It is fascinating to see that Social Media has become a powerful tool to build reputation and give the star status. Kendall Jenner is a social media whiz despite being from a famous family (Kardashian Jenner). She has almost 90 million Instagram followers and even reached the top of the most highly paid female models list. The shape of your body is another important aspect. You must be beautiful. (Not sure what that actually means). An analysis of the top models’ BMI, shows that many of them have a lower frame than the average (according the world health organization), which means they are often eating poorly. This can lead to a lot of poverty and very strict diets. If you feel you are ready to take on this job, then you should read the following advice. It will help you avoid certain traps and make a successful career in modeling.
Advice number 2: Don’t wait too long to start young
Models can be compared to soccer players in that at one stage, it is almost too late. You generally embrace modeling until you are 32/35 years of age. You will probably want to have a stable life, a family, and a comfortable lifestyle. After 20 years of traveling, you may have had enough. You should start young. Is there an age limit for starting? It is not. Many models started their careers at age 6. Many of them will begin their careers around 14/15 years. They are usually able to photograph and catwalk for fashion brands at this age. It is important to have strong parents who are there for you at all times. We never know what traps you may fall into, and you are still young. Your parents should agree to allow you to travel if your job requires it.
Advice number three: You are who you are, don’t try to change it
The media has covered many successful celebrities and top models. Many girls believe that being as close to celebrities’ physical appearance as possible would guarantee success. A whole new generation of models wanted to be like Cindy Crawford or Claudia Schiffer fifteen years ago. Everyone wants to look like Gisele bundchen. This is also a popular topic for the press, who always wants to highlight the ” next Gisele bundchen.” Brands aren’t looking for “copy-paste” in modeling. They are looking for something unique, quirky, funny, and personal. While many models were successful, they did not fit the “standards”. You can be creative with your hair color, skin color, tattoos, and measurements. There is always room to be original. Because of their unique looks, some models are even muses for certain brands. Let’s take Laetitia Casta as an example. She was a great model, and is still an inspiration to many women. She was just 169cm tall and weighed 58kg. Models of high standing are usually 180cm tall for 52kg. Despite this, she was able to enjoy an incredible international career and became the muse for Yves Saint Laurent. She re-entered the modeling industry and began a successful career as an actress.
Advice Number Four: Get A Proper Model Agency, Or Even Better, Get Two Agencies.
Your model agency’s professionalism is the key to your long-term success as a model. Only the best will do. Modeling careers generally start locally. A local agency can help you get good jobs. They can give you good advice and help you structure your presentation. Important: The look book is not usually paid for by models. It is an investment in your future by the agency. Don’t get involved in strange deals that would require you to pay more than you have to for your book. This isn’t a serious matter. It is possible to move to international waters after you have worked at the local level. This is why it is so important to have an additional agency or partner agency in addition to your local agency. Because they are unable to provide a global scope for work, more local agencies seek international partners. You can make sure your business is protected by this deal. If the local agency doesn’t have international partners, you can either find one or negotiate your rights separately (local and global).
