Homebuyers often ask us if they have any questions before they schedule their home inspection. This is especially true for buyers who are first-time homebuyers and have never had a home inspection. We have some tips, suggestions and pointers that will help buyers make the most of their Home Inspection in Sea Girt.
When scheduling, be mindful of the following:
Your Realtor will inform you when all inspections must be completed. It usually takes 7-10 days from the date you sign the agreement. It can take up to a few days for some inspections or tests, such as radon, water quality or air quality, so be aware when you schedule your appointment.
Know why you pay:
Inspections can be visual or non-invasive. We only can report on what we can see, without disassembling anything. In that we can only report on what we see, and not take anything apart, we might refer you to a specialist (e.g. A roofer or an electrician.
You should choose an inspector/inspection company that you trust and can reach out to for any questions during, or after, your inspection. You can trust someone to help you with your home purchase.
Participate in the Inpections
All buyers are strongly encouraged to attend the inspection. Ask questions! We are not here to tell what is wrong with your house. Our goal is not to tell you what’s wrong with your house, but to help you understand how to fix it. We love to share home maintenance tips with you!

Don’t panic when you get the inspection report:
Our inspectors tell clients that it looks worse on paper. This is a fact that we have found to be true. It doesn’t seem so bad when the inspector is on-site to explain and keep everything in perspective. Many people feel nervous seeing the summary of the inspector’s report.
